Brilliance in action

Some time ago, the twins destroyed the blinds on our sliding glass door in the kitchen. It happened over time, they just kept ripping each slat down until they were no longer recognizable as blinds. And no longer fixable. So I put my brain to work trying to come up with a solution that wouldn’t require installing new hardware.

We could just buy new blinds, but that would require installing new hardware, plus the twins would probably just start breaking them again and that would make me angry. Why set myself up for disappointment?

We could buy a curtain, but again that would require buying a curtain rod and installing new hardware. I’m trying to save my husband the work of installing new hardware, because honestly, he would be the one to set it up.

Then this brilliant idea struck me. We bought these giant size shower curtain rings that were big enough to go over the existing hardware: 100_1579

Then we bought this shower curtain:100_1578

And now we have a little more privacy in our kitchen without having to install new hardware. The only problem is my measuring skills. I thought I had it measured out right, but I made a slight miscalculation and now it looks like our window is wearing floods:

Steve says he can fix it if he unscrews the hardware and moves it down a few inches. So much for not having to install new hardware. Anyone else interested in a brilliant solution?

I wonder if I could add some fabric on the bottom that would lengthen it and look good with it. I like the colors and it looks easy to lift up out of the way of those little hands.

My mom always added lace to the bottom of my always too short pants! At least you have solved the privacy thing!!
