Kevin: Dad, what does nerf mean?
Dad: Well, it's a company that makes toys with soft foam, like nerf footballs, and nerf darts.
Kevin: So what does it mean when you say it in a prayer?
Dad: What do you mean?
Kevin: Like when you say "nerf and strengthen our bodies?"
After we both stopped laughing we explained that we were actually saying nourish, and explained what it meant.
The other night we were getting the kids ready for bed. Kevin had a great idea. "Dad, why don't you put us to bed so that mommy can rest with the baby?" I love the way he thinks.
At our most recent family night, we were having a lesson about the sacrament. At one point Steve asked Kevin, "What does it mean to have a pure heart?" After giving it some serious thought, Kevin said, "A clean heart?" Fairly impressed, Steve said, "That's right Kevin!" To which Kevin replied, "Turns out I'm pretty smart after all."
There was never any question, son.
